Transformative Investment for Health and Economic Prosperity in Lesotho

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) include specific and broader objectives to end maternal, newborn and child (MNC) mortality, address unmet need for family planning (FP), and prevent gender-based violence (GBV). These priorities align closely with Lesotho’s national strategies for leveraging its demographic dividend.

While effective interventions exist for maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), FP, and GBV, the scaling up of these efforts remains impeded by insufficient investment. Successful implementation of these interventions requires a significant increase in funding at all levels of the health system. Moreover, such investments also yield substantial health and economic returns.

This investment case (IC) presents compelling evidence to inform potential investors about the considerable advantages of supporting high-impact interventions, emphasizing that each dollar invested produces far-reaching benefits that extend well beyond immediate health outcomes.
