Coaching and mentoring strategy to support teachers in the delivery of CSE (UNESCO)

The coaching and mentoring guidelines

UNESCO has prepared these guidelines to support Ministries of Education in ESA and WCA countries in implementing a coaching and mentoring programme to support teachers who have been trained in CSE. The guidelines clarify concepts and describe key elements, advantages, and disadvantages of differing approaches to supporting teachers through coaching, mentoring, group/team coaching or mentoring, and e-learning. 

The guidelines also prompt critical reflection and offer recommendations to inform strategies for coaching and mentoring at the country level. The appendix section provides tips and tools that can be used in coaching and mentoring.
